Waterstone Homes is celebrating success after being crowned as Wales’ top housebuilder at this year’s Insider Wales Property Awards.

The family-owned firm, which has properties across south and west Wales, beat off stiff competition from some of the country’s best property professionals to be awarded the coveted title of ‘Housebuilder of the Year’.

Hosted yesterday at City Hall in Cardiff, the prestigious awards ceremony celebrates the very best that the Welsh property sector has to offer, shining a light on the top commercial and residential property deals as well as the leading professional advisers, developments, builders, developers and personalities.

Judges selected Waterstone Homes as winner of the housebuilder prize, after being impressed with the firm’s 66% increase in housebuilding activities over the last 12 months. The winning entry also recognised the quality of Waterstone Homes’ properties, which have been developed in collaboration with Spring Architects, including the highly regarded £9m Tusker’s Point scheme of 12 luxury homes in Ogmore-by-Sea.

The company was similarly applauded for its philanthropic efforts, having contributed more than £350,000 to local community projects and responsible business activities, including donating money to schools to fund new outdoor playground shelters and football kits, part-funding the regeneration of a community hall, investing in local transport improvements and holding open career days to encourage young people, particularly women, into the construction industry.

Waterstone Homes was chosen for the accolade ahead of a strong shortlist of entries from Redrow Homes and Llanmoor Homes, in a category sponsored by real estate firm Avison Young.

It comes in the midst of a wave of success for Waterstone Homes, with developments in St Nicholas, Llanishen and Ogmore-by-Sea having all sold out during 2018-2019. This summer, the housebuilder will also be opening a brand-new show home at its latest residential scheme in Killay, Swansea.

Lee Woodfine, Managing Director at Waterstone Homes said: “We are extremely proud to be crowned Housebuilder of the Year at this year’s Insider Wales Property Awards. We have experienced significant growth over the last 12 months, and it is humbling to see our efforts recognised. This award is testament to the hard work that our teams continually put in across the company to provide high quality new homes for all of our customers and partners.”
